Sombr, the 20-year-old Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, says he is still single and navigating love in the spotlight.
The singer, whose real name is Shane Michael Boose, usually keeps his personal life private. But in a recent interview with Nylon, he shared details about his dating life and relationships.
“I’m still a man that feels emotions. I’m still very single. And I still deal with some issues that have to do with love,” Sombr said.
Life as a Public Figure
Sombr said fame has made dating more complicated. “I have to accept that I don’t have privacy, which is not something I’ll ever complain about because this is what I wanted,” he said. “But I have to always act like I’m being watched. Because I am.”
His music often reflects his experiences with love. His hit song “Homewrecker” is about reconnecting with an ex who has moved on. Sombr said the story is true, and the person in the song is “f—ing pissed” about it.
Still Looking for Love
Despite his busy career, Sombr says he wants a relationship in the future. On the In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele podcast, he said:
“It’s not in the cards for me right now. It is what it is. My big dream is to get a girlfriend. Please. Not right now, but eventually. That’s like my lifetime dream. [My dream girl] is a very talented creative. I’m very attracted to very talented people that I can look up to and who have a sense of humor.”
2025 was a big year for Sombr. He released his first album, I Barely Know Her, and was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Sombr also draws inspiration from movies like The Notebook and Call Me By Your Name when writing his songs.
